Who we are ~We are the best of friends who discovered our shared love for wine, beer, food, and travel. We just counted, and our friendship has spanned over 12 years! It's been a really interesting adventure for us to get to this point where we felt that our knowledge and experiences would be worthy of sharing with the world.
Over the last few years, we started noticing that our friends, family, and coworkers would ask us for recommendations on food, wine and travel locations. It seemed that people could relate to our stories of adventures in food and wine, and respected our recommendations.
One day, we talked about how fun it would be to share our stories with a greater audience. The start of Corque was founded on our love and passion to share information with our friends and family. The stories are about us and our adventures. We hope that you enjoy reading.
Read a little about each of us...
Betty is a self-taught home cook who started making family meals in high school to help her working parents around the house. The running joke in our family growing up was that my mom was the greatest take out chef around. Both parents worked long hours and really didn't lend itself to homecooked meals. I think it was pretty natural for me to start making simple meals that my family enjoyed. In college, I enrolled in some weekend culinary classes at the Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, CA to gain some skills to further my food passion. It wasn't until much later, when I met my now husband, that we started to learn about wine together. We are lucky to live in California where we are flanked from the North and South with so many great wine regions just a short drive away. My husband and I even got married in Napa!
Chris grew up learning how to make all of her mother's homecooked dishes. As far as she's concerned, her mom is the best cook around. Her discerning palete has been trained from all her traveling around the world. Her job has taken her all over the East Coast, West Coast, Europe, Asia and beyond. She's had so many great opportunities to try the foods and wines of the world. Recently, Chris has taken her passion for wine to a new level, by enrolling in continuing educational courses at a local University. You'll have to look to Chris for all of the technical terms regarding wine. Chris is a newlywed too!
